Vasil Spasov’s Funkallero band releases new album

A few days ago the debut album of the Funkallero band was released. When creating the band Vasil Spasov decided that it should be named after one of the pieces by great jazz pianist Bill Evans. The band has performed at a number of festivals and club stages and after two years of work they released their first album bearing the same name.

СнимкаThe album is quite colorful, thanks to the different musical styles of the musicians. We know saxophonist Dimitar Liolev as a musician attracted to Bulgarian folklore and its intertwining with elements of jazz. The other members of the band are Miroslav Ivanov (guitar), Radoslav Slavchev (bass guitar) and Georgi Markov (drums). All three perform jazz, soul, R & B and rock music. Vasil Spasov, who received his education in Bulgaria and the USA (Berkeley College), composes and performs jazz, film and theater music. He is the author of all plays and arrangements in the album.

"Each one of us has this sincere approach, which is the first condition for achieving a good synthesis between the styles of different people,” says the leader of the formation. “The fact that each one of us has a different background does not really matter, because the music that we create unites us. Everyone brings their own color. Things would not have worked out if the people were different. We had been working for some time, playing at festivals and in clubs, before the idea for recording an album emerged. Music Clinic Records and Anthony Rikev - WahTony have great contribution for the release of the album. Together with Tony we worked on the mix of plays. These are almost all pieces part of our concert program. Dimitar Traychev designed the CD cover, which shows an image of our inspirer Bill Evans. "

The band also went on a tour in Bulgaria, and the first cities in which the album was presented were Sofia, Plovdiv and Burgas. Is the project going to cross the borders of Bulgaria in the future?

"More concerts are coming in the future - in Rousse and Veliko Tarnovo, probably in Varna too. The idea is to promote our music with live performances in order to attract more fans. When it comes to the concert in Sofia – people from whom I have drawn inspiration over the years came to our performance. The approval expressed by friends and colleagues brought us much joy and confidence in the project. We create fusion music, which has popularity all over the world and I think the way we perform our pieces could attract fans abroad.”

English: Alexander Markov

The audio file contains the following pieces:

-  "22:22"

-  Funkalerro -Twisted Tails

-  Fun The Dude - Remix
