Premier, Minister and Head of National Assembly Budget Committee questioned under the case against Vasil Bozhkov

Bulgaria’s Premier Boyko Borissov, this country’s Minister of Finance Vladislav Goranov and the Chairperson of the National Assembly Committee on Budget and Finance Menda Stoyanova were interrogated as witnesses in the investigation against businessman Vasil Bozhkov, the Prosecutor’s Office has announced. Inspection under the lawsuit for committed crimes against the financial and the tax system has ascertained that Unicredit Bulbank did not notify the Financial Intelligence Directorate about withdrawal of large sums of money. Applications for legal aid were made in connection with the investigation. European investigation orders have been issued and sent to other EU member states. All evidence collected, whether in the form of commixes published on the social networks, or in other form, is subject to careful scrutiny, the Prosecutor’s Office notes. The Bulgarian businessman charged with 18 counts is now in the United Arab Emirates.
