On the 40th day of anti-government protests in Bulgaria, protesting citizens led by BOEC civil movement blocked the building of the Ministry of Justice in Sofia. They callеd for a meeting with Justice Minister Danail Kirilov, claiming they would hand in to him the resignation of the cabinet that he should sign, BNR reports.
After the demonstrators were not allowed to enter the building of the Justice Ministry, they blocked the access to the central entrance to the building, arguing they are against "having the new constitution of Bulgaria be written by the mafia".
The protest campaign this morning continued for about an hour and went under the slogan "Blockade-Surprise-Number One" as its organizers said that similar blockades of various institutions would be organized every day.
Three key intersections in the capital Sofia remain blocked for traffic - at Eagles' Bridge (Orlov Most), Sofia University and Independence (Nezavisimost) Square.
The citizens protesting in the tent camp at Eagles' Bridge firmly stated that they would oppose the proposal for a new constitution submitted by GERB and the prime minister and once again called for resignation of the cabinet. They claim it is inadmissible to have the people against whom the protests are now aimed "cement their power for decades ahead" by changing the Constitution", the BNR reports.
