Our combat aviation needs more flight hours: Graf Ignatievo Air Base commander

Photo: BGNES

We need more MiG 29s in working order, and more flight hours for the pilots, Brigadier General Nikolay Rusev, commander of Graf Ignatievo Air Base stated. In the words of Brigadier General Rusev the insufficient number of flight hours “is detrimental to the combat training of the pilots”. The reason is the insufficient number of aviation technology units in good working order and the inadequate provision of resources.

Graf Ignatievo Air Base, where the 8 new F-16 fighter aircraft will be dislocated, performs the air policing of Bulgaria and NATO. The government has stated its intentions of modernizing the infrastructure.
