The Moldovan region of Taraclia, inhabited mainly by Bulgarians, will retain its administrative integrity, which will guarantee the rights of our community there. This assurance was given to Vice-President Iliana Iotova by the Speaker of the Moldovan Parliament, Igor Grosu, during her visit to Chisinau. The authorities in Chisinau told Vice-President Iliana Iotova that the Bulgarian community in Moldova, which has a history of more than 200 years, would preserve its rights.

In an effort to de-Russify its national minorities and reduce the negative effects of the former USSR's aggressive education policy, Moldova is supporting educational programmes that encourage the country's communities to learn their mother tongue, history and culture, said parliament speaker Igor Grosu. The information was provided by the BNR's reporter in Moldova, Mira Stefanova.
