Replacing the finance minister would be madness, says PP-DB's Kiril Petkov

We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (PP-DB) invited GERB to start government negotiations in Parliament on Friday March 8, PP-DB co-leader Kiril Petkov confirmed on the sidelines of Parliament. He added that the PP-DB wanted to see a government led by Mariya Gabriel.

He described the idea of a possible replacement of Finance Minister Assen Vassilev (co-leader of the PP) after the rotation as madness, at a time when the country is trying to join the eurozone.
"I believe in Mariya Gabriel's vision for Bulgaria, but we want to make sure that there are real processes behind this vision and that we have independent regulators, because that is what Bulgarian citizens are concerned about. They want to know if someone is going to protect them from high prices and fake news, if they are going to have the right to a fair trial," Petkov said.
Prime Minister Denkov stepped down to make way for a pre-agreed leadership rotation that saw former EU commissioner and foreign minister Mariya Gabriel take the helm of the cabinet.
