The thirty chapels of Momchilovtsi are among the most visited tourist attractions in the Rhodope village during the Easter holidays.
"Routes for pilgrimage tourism lead to the chapels that protect the village", says Mayor Siyka Surkova. In her words, the dozens of small Christian temples built by the local families are an expression of the deep religiousness of the residents of Momchilovtsi.
A map with routes to the temples is placed in a central location in the village. The newest chapel is named after St. Basil, but it has not yet been consecrated as finishing touches are still being made.
