The MPs failed to elect a speaker also at their fourth attempt. Of the four candidates, Raya Nazaryan, nominated by GERB - SDS, and Silvi Kirilov - nominated by "There is such a nation" - reached the second round of voting.

Raya Nazaryan got 69 votes only from her political party, while Silvi Kirilov was supported by 101 MPs - from ITN, "We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria", Vazrazhdane, Alliance for Rights and Freedoms and MECH party.

After the vote, the temporary chairman Silvi Kirilov announced a 30-minute break. He said that today a second procedure would be held to elect a parliamentary speaker.

However, the second procedure also proved fruitless. Thus, the first parliamentary sitting, which has been dragging on since 11 November, will continue on Friday, 22 November, with a new attempt by the MEPs to elect a speaker.

Before the parliamentary sitting, GERB leader Boyko Borissov said the coalition would vote for its candidate in the person of Raya Nazarian.

The co-chairman of "We Continue the Change" Kiril Petkov confirmed that his party withdraws the nomination of Andrey Tsekov and would support the oldest MP Silvi Kirilov from ITN for the presidency.

The leader of Vazrazgdabe, Kostadin Kostadinov, again defended the candidacy of Petar Petrov as "the logical choice", and Borislav Gutsanov from "BSP - United Left" spoke in favour of Natalia Kiselova.
