Digital education of adults, the low intake of children under 3 years of age in nurseries and the high percentage of young people who are neither involved in education nor in work - these are the main challenges facing Bulgaria indicated in the second package of the European Autumn Semester, BNR correspondent Angelina Piskova reported from Brussels.

According to the EC, challenges related to the continuing education of adults affect the employment of some groups and hinder growth and competitiveness.

The percentage of adults in Bulgaria following the lifelong learning line is among the lowest in the EU. In addition, only 35.5% of this group of the Bulgarian population has basic digital skills compared to 55.6% for the EU in 2023.

The percentage of children at risk of poverty and social exclusion for last year was 33.9% compared to 24.8% for the Community.
