The border police vessel Obzor took part in an operation to rescue two foreigners in the Black Sea.

The distress call was received on the evening of March 2 via the 112 emergency number. It indicated that there was a rubber dinghy with two people on board about 13 nautical miles east of Cape Maslen Nos. They were first picked up by a fishing boat and then transferred to the border police boat. One of the men is a Turkish national and the other a Ukrainian.

According to them, they left Odessa three days ago with the intention of reaching Varna.  A check revealed that one of them had been banned from entering or staying in the Schengen area on the initiative of Greece. The two were arrested for illegal border crossing.
