Migration wave along Bulgaria’s borders hits all-time low

“There is a consistent trend towards a drop in numbers and a curbing of the migration pressure,” Border Police Director, Chief Commissioner Anton Zlatanov, Director said in an interview for bTV.

“When I took office, illegal migration had reached an all-time high. We had days in which there were over 1,500 attempts to cross the border. At the moment there are 10-15 per 24 hours which is close to the minimum since there has been a migration wave,” Anton Zlatanov said. “I can safely say there is a consistently trend towards a drop in numbers and a curbing of the migratory pressure. EU and Frontex data show the migratory pressure towards Europe is not subsiding, but it is dropping along the route across Bulgaria, and that is good news for the country.”
