Divers kick off the diving season near the town of Kiten

Divers from Burgas' Friends of the Sea association opened the diving season. With the water temperature at seven degrees, they made their traditional spring dive along the coast of Kiten, where underwater remains include ancient artefacts and even a submerged village discovered in the 1980s.

Diving in dry suits is possible all year round in the Black Sea, according to the association. On their initiative, a first-generation vintage car of the "Chaika" model (produced by the Soviet car manufacturer GAZ) and a radio relay station mounted on the chassis of a "ZiL" 157 will soon be sunk off the coast of Burgas. Once submerged, they will become an underwater reef and a new attraction for lovers of underwater expeditions.

Among the events to be organised by Friends of the Sea - Burgas are the traditional underwater clean-up around St Anastasia Island, the annual underwater sports competition "Golden Dolphin 2025", and a clean-up of the area in front of Burgas beach.
