The average salary increases by 11%

According to data from the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, the average salary in Bulgaria during the first quarter of 2025 amounted to 2,443 BGN (EUR 1,249), which is an 11% increase compared to the same period in 2024, BNR’s reporter Tsvetelina Stoyanova informed.

In seven economic sectors, the average salary was above the national average. The highest average salaries were reported in the sector "Creation and dissemination of information and creative products, telecommunications", where salaries reached 5,739 BGN (EUR 2,934), with an annual growth of over 9%. In second place were "Financial and insurance activities", where average salaries grew by more than 13% year-on-year, reaching 3,837 BGN (EUR 1,961).

The highest average salary was recorded in Sofia- 3,386 BGN (EUR 1,731), which is 38.6% higher than the national average. The largest increases in income were seen in Blagoevgrad (over 16.1%), Targovishte (16%) and Pleven (13.8%).

The number of unemployed people has decreased by nearly 36,000 to just over 116,000.
