''The Bulgarian army is entering an accelerated phase of modernization'', Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov said from the deck of the frigate "Verni" during the High-Level Visitors Day of the Breeze 2025 naval exercise in Varna.

Next week, the government will discuss the long-term EU funding available through the SAFE program, which supports urgent and large-scale investments in European defense technologies and industry. The fund totals EUR 150 billion. ''It will also be clarified what funds from the national budget will need to be allocated for the army’s modernization'', Premier Zheyazkov specified.

Together with Minister of Defense Atanas Zapryanov and Minister of Foreign Affairs Georg Georgiev, Rosen Zhelyazkov observed the handling of a simulated incident and fire at the port, BTA reported.
