Bulgarian society ranks at the European average in terms of generative AI application usage, according to a nationally representative survey conducted by Alpha Research between July 7–14, 2025. The survey included 1,000 adult respondents from across the country, using standardized face-to-face interviews, BTA reports.

Generative AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, and similar platforms are used by 44% of Bulgarian adults, while 56% have not yet adopted them. AI is used twice as often for personal interest (36%) than for professional tasks (18%), a pattern consistent across all social and demographic groups, including the youngest and most educated.

Overall, 36% of Bulgarians believe generative AI will benefit humanity by advancing science, medicine, and other critical sectors. Support for this view is strongest among frequent users—mainly university graduates and individuals aged 18 to 39. In contrast, 32% of adults express concern that AI poses a threat to humanity.
