For the first 7 months of 2025, compared to the same period in 2024, electricity exports from Bulgaria have been growing. This was what the director of the Electricity System Operator (ESO), Angelin Tsachev, told the Bulgarian National Radio. The positive balance is 230,000 megawatt-hours of electricity, in export to other markets.

After a change in the balancing methodology, commercial participants with non-constant electricity capacities have "disciplined themselves" and at this stage there are no concerns about balancing the system, the executive director of ESO said. He added that according to this indicator, Bulgaria is among the top 5 countries in Europe.

This country already stores solar energy in batteries, which are private investments, the manager added. The storage capacity is about 1,300 megawatt-hours, or 1.5% of daily consumption.
