The prices of several essential foods increased last week. Items such as pork, yoghurt, cheese, oil, and certain fruits and vegetables—including tomatoes and cucumbers—became more expensive. As a result, the consumer basket rose by 1 lev (0.51 euro), increasing from 97 leva to 98 leva, announced Vladimir Ivanov, chairman of the State Commission on Commodity Exchanges and Markets.
This comes after the previous week saw a decrease in the basket’s price, dropping from 99 leva to 97 leva. According to Ivanov, the recent price rise is due to seasonal and climatic changes, as well as delayed deliveries.
