The dance group "Banski Fukli" represented Bansko and Bulgaria at the International Festival of Highland Folklore in Zakopane, Poland, the Embassy of Bulgaria in Warsaw wrote on its Facebook page.
Ensembles performing authentic folklore from 16 mountain countries around the world took part in the competition.
The Bulgarian participants impressed the audience and earned the festival’s prestigious award—"Golden Axe", the diplomatic mission said.
The Mayor of Bansko, Stoycho Banenski, congratulated the dance group and choreographer Raina Aseva for their excellent performance:
“I had the chance to experience this emotion, and I am proud that the power and energy of Pirin and Bansko were presented in the best and most beautiful way, captivating the hearts of the audience in Zakopane through songs and dances, and with an authentic performance of the sacred ritual ''Old Bansko Wedding'', Stoycho Banenski wrote on Facebook.
