Bulgarian infrastructure to be modernized with the help of concessions

In addition to using EU funds, accelerating the development of key infrastructure projects can be achieved through concession mechanisms. This is a tool that the European Commission encourages. This was what Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications Grozdan Karadjov said at a round table on the topic of "Prospects, Challenges and Vision for Development of the Construction Sector", organized by the Bulgarian Construction Chamber.

"When public funds are limited, we need to attract private capital — a resource available through pension and international investment funds. This is a way to build motorways, tunnels, railways, and water facilities at the pace Bulgaria requires,” the Deputy Prime Minister said. The updated concessions plan includes strategic projects such as the Rila and Black Sea motorways and fast rail links across the Balkan Mountain.
