The President of the Bulgarian Football Union Georgi Ivanov announced that Aleksandar Dimitrov is the new coach of the national team. The former coach of the country's youth team will lead the national team in the qualification against Turkey for the World Cup on October 11. The match will be played in Sofia at 9:45 p.m.

Dimitrov succeeds Ilian Iliev, who resigned as coach of the Bulgarian football players after the 0:3 losses to Spain and Georgia at the start of the World Cup qualifiers. Dimitrov's contract is for 2 years.

"The big clubs in Bulgarian football are giving up on Bulgarian players. Currently, most of the players in the national team are part of the starting lineup in their teams. We have taken measures, but it takes time," said Georgi Ivanov and admitted that he did not expect miracles from Aleksandar Dimitrov.
