The Bulgarian volleyball players were welcomed at the government terminal of Vasil Levski airport

The Bulgarian national volleyball team was welcomed with a red carpet and an honor guard at Vasil Levski Airport in Sofia. On Sunday, the Bulgarian national team, led by head coach Gianlorenzo Blengini, won the silver medals at the 2025 Men's Volleyball World Championship held in the Philippines.

Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Zafirov and the players’ families were among those welcoming the team. Each team member was given a laurel wreath and a white rose. Bulgaria’s Minister of Youth and Sports Ivan Peshev presented the team with a check for BGN 520,000.

The Volleyball Federation and Sofia Municipality are organizing an official ceremony to welcome the team at Alexander Nevsky Square after 5 p.m. Setter Simeon Nikolov said the whole team was deeply moved by the reception at Vasil Levski Airport. ''Everyone is happy to hear a ‘Well done’ from their parents'', added Simeon Nikolov, who will join Lokomotiv Novosibirsk for the upcoming season.
