Bulgaria Today – 1 October 2025

Welcome to Bulgaria Today, the English-language podcast of Radio Bulgaria, hosted by Rositsa Petkova.

It is October 1, International Day of Music, and music is at the heart of much of our work and mission here at Radio Bulgaria, as we have been trying to bring the best of Bulgarian music to you in our programmes. There will be plenty of music on our podcast today of course – the BNR Symphony Orchestra is opening its new season this evening – what will be the highlights in the upcoming season for our ensemble?

Also, we will bring you an interview with one of Bulgaria’s most celebrated female composers - Grammy award winner Penka Kouneva who’s been living in the LA for 25 years.
Of course, there will be news at the start the programme and the weather report for tomorrow!

Have an enjoyable listen!
