Bulgaria's Olympic champion from Paris Karlos Nasar became the world champion in weightlifting for the third time. At the World Championships in Førde, Norway, he took gold in the clean and jerk movement with 222 kg, as well as in the combined total.
In his new category - up to 94 kg, the Bulgarian tried to set a world record in the clean and jerk - 222 kg, and succeeded under the applause of the entire hall and the chants: "Bulgarian heroes!". Among the audience was also the King of Norway.
Karlos Nasar achieved a combined total of 395 kg. In the first movement - the snatch, Nassar remained fourth.

In the clean and jerk, the Bulgarian was above everyone with successful attempts of 210, 219 and a world record of 222 kilograms, to collect a combined today of 395 kilograms.

The silver medal went to Iranian Alireza Moeini Sedeh with a total of 391 kg, while the bronze went to Colombian Josker Albornoz Quinto.

For the 21-year-old Bulgarian weightlifting sensation, this is his third world title in a third different weight class, following those in Tashkent in 2021 in the 81 kg category and in Manama in 2024 in the 89 kg category.

With three world titles, Karlos Nasar now stands alongside some of the greatest names in Bulgarian weightlifting history: Asen Zlatev, Anton Kodzhabashev, Blagoy Blagoev, Neno Terziyski, Aleksandar Varbanov, Sevdalin Marinov, Mihail Petrov, Yoto Yotov and Zlatan Vanev. His next goal is to catch up with the legendary Yanko Rusev, who holds five world titles.
