Bulgaria will host the first three stages of the 2026 Giro d'Italia cycling race, Radsport aktuell reports, quoted by BTA.

According to the German publication, the 109th Giro will start in Bulgaria's city Burgas on the Black Sea coast in May, after which the next stop will be Veliko Tarnovo, from where the race will continue to the country's second-biggest city Plovdiv, and the end of the third stage will be in the Bulgarian capital Sofia, after which the competitors will travel to southern Italy to continue the race.

Radsport aktuell writes that the information is not yet official and there are possibilities for some changes, but they are unlikely.

The organizers are expected to announce the exact route and stages in the second half of November. The official website of the International Cycling Union (UCI) has announced the start date as May 9 with the final on May 31.

A few weeks ago, it officially became clear that Bulgaria will host the prestigious competition for the first time.
