The final round of the twelfth edition of the Rose Water Recipe Award was hosted by the Bulgarian Embassy in Tokyo. According to a Facebook post by the diplomatic mission in Japan, the competition was organised by the Bulgarian Rose Cultural Association, chaired by Fumie Yamashita.
The contest was divided into two age categories. The five finalists in the 'Students' category are all students at a culinary high school in Niigata Prefecture. This year, for the second time, professional confectioners and chefs from all over Japan also participated in the competition – a total of 18 finalists," said the team at our embassy.

At the end of the competition, Bulgarian Ambassador Marieta Arabadjieva, an honorary member of the jury, presented awards and certificates to the winners and finalists. In her speech, she congratulated the participants on their original recipes and ideas for using rose water, and wished them future success. The Bulgarian Rose Cultural Association continues to organise the competition successfully and promote Bulgarian roses and rose products in Japan.
“The event was covered by Japanese culinary media, which helped raise the visibility of our country among the Japanese public,” the embassy said, quoted by BTA.
