On December 15 at 6 p.m., the traditional festive ceremony for lighting the Bulgarian Christmas tree in Las Vegas will take place at BESO Restaurant, according to eurochicago.com. The tree will be adorned with ornaments featuring Bulgarian motifs, most of which were crafted by mothers of children with special needs.

“We are delighted to announce that the decorations are handmade ornaments featuring Bulgarian motifs. Let’s welcome the magic of Christmas together!” the event organisers said, explaining that each decoration carries a story, hope, and a piece of Bulgaria.

One of the women who created the decorations is Savina Lilova, mother of a young man diagnosed with autism. After 12 years of trying to have a child, Savina and her husband were blessed with a boy named Yuli. Although the adoption was a dream come true, the couple soon faced the life-changing diagnosis. Today, Yuli is 21 years old and enjoys music, nature, and the sea. His family remains by his side, supporting and loving him—a love that has been woven into the Christmas tree decorations Savina made especially for the Bulgarian Christmas tree in Las Vegas.
