Sofia supports the peace plan in Ukraine, but wants EU's interests to be taken into account

Bulgaria welcomes the consistent efforts of the US and President Donald Trump to establish a just and lasting peace in Ukraine, the Council of Ministers wrote on the government's Facebook page.

The final terms of a future peace agreement would directly affect the security of both Bulgaria and the EU, as well as the entire Europe. We continue to work with our partners from the EU and the US to ensure that the future peace agreement will be properly implemented. We will ensure that Ukraine receives reliable guarantees for its security. Sofia maintains its position that in the 21st century, internationally recognized borders should not be changed by force. The Ukrainian people alone can determine their own future and make decisions on the nature of any proposed peace agreement, the government's position reads, quoted by BTA.
